- Are
you aged between 12-25?
- Do
you, live, work or study in the West Midlands?
- Would
you like to have a go at writing a short radio
play?
Radio
Online offers a wonderful opportunity for young
writers, who have not previously written for radio,
to write a short radio play (up to 15 minutes).
The play should be inspired by sounds that will
shortly be available via the RADIO
page of this website.
Before
submitting your play, you will have the opportunity
to attend two workshops on writing for radio run
by a BBC Radio Producer.
From
the plays submitted, three will be chosen for
recording. If yours is chosen, you will work on
rewrites with a BBC Producer and then have the
chance to watch your play being recorded.
Recorded
plays will be available to listen to on this website
and will also become part of the Birmingham Repertory
Theatre's Transmissions Festival in July 2005.
You'll also have your own copy to keep and take
away.
Register
your interest in taking part in this scheme by
visiting the RADIO page
to download and complete a form. You need to do
this by 28 February 2005.
Note:

THEATRE
ABSOLUTE, IN CO-PRODUCTION WITH WARWICK ARTS CENTRE,
PRESENT...
Street
Trilogy - Car, Raw, Kid by Chris O'Connell
Performed
for the first time in the UK, the three plays
in O'Connell's Street Trilogy, portray the vulnerable
and the violent as they lash out against the world
around them. From the adrenaline-fuelled anarchy
of a car theft and the ritualised violence of
teenage gangs, to the new beginnings offered by
a baby in the womb. This tightly crafted network
of dramas combine the exhilaration and the dread
of a rollercoaster ride. Each play can be viewed
separately but combined they portray a picture
of life on the dirty side of the tracks without
compromise or sentimentality.
