a single idea; how do you hear it, visualise it,
realise it?

CALL
FOR WRITER FROM CENTRAL YOUTH THEATRE
Central
Youth Theatre (CYT) has been working with young
people from in and around Wolverhampton for over
23 years. It is their intention to stage a main
house production at the Grand Theatre in September
2007. They are making a bid to the Heritage Lottery
Young Roots Scheme to commission a script by a
professional writer who has significant experience
of working with and writing for young people.
They wish to create an original full length show
about the History of the Sunbeam Manufacturing
Company.
The
years of the Sunbeam production (1888 to 1937)
under the ownership of John Marston contributed
to Britain's once bouyant bicycle and motorcycle
industries, and Wolverhampton was their home.
Subeam bicycles and motorcycles represented a
high quality product that few other manufacturers
could rival. Although now derelict, the Sunbeamland
Factory still stands in Villiers Street. The City
Museum Service and Archive Service have lots of
material and information about the company, its
founders and workers; and additionally a number
of Wolverhampton companies still have historical
links to Sunbeam.
Subject
to funding, they will be offering Writers Guild/ITC
standard rates for a full length script and would
welcome submissions from West Midlands based writers.
Please send a CV plus around ten pages of your
most recent relevant work.
Deadline:
Friday 30 June
Please
send to: Jane Ward, Director - Central Youth Theatre,
Newhampton Arts Centre, Dunkley Street, Wolverhampton,
